Hiligaynon is a member of the Visayan branch of the Austronesian language family with about 11 million speakers in Western Visayas in the Philippines, 7 million of whom speak is as a native language. Most of the speakers live in the provinces of Iloilo and Negros Occidental. There are also speakers in the other provinces of the Panay Island group, such as Capiz, Antique, Aklan and Guimaras.
