Meriam Mir is a Papuan language spoken by about 210 people on the Torres Strait Islands of Erub, Ugar and Mer between Papua New Guinea and the mainland of Australian. Some linguists classify Miriam Mir as a member of the Eastern Trans-Fly language family of Trans-New Guinea, but others think it's not related to the other languages in that family.
